Good morning ALL,

As we come to the close of the summer season, it is now time to start thinking about Scouting again.

The PLC has come up with a GREAT Plan for this coming year. And it will soon start.

Our first Troop Meeting swill be on Thursday 9/4/14.

We also have some activities coming up and we need Scouts to sign up for these:

1. Sunday 9/7/14 is St. James Church Picnic.  Our Scouts help to set up and tear down for this event.  Scouts and families are invited to attend this picnic too.  Scouts need to wear your Class B uniform.  Make sure you sign up on the Troop Web Site.

2. On the weekend of 9/19/14 through 9/21/14 is the Religious Retreat at Camp Bashore.  This is a SPECIAL Year for our Troop.  The Retreat is going to be dedicated to SME Mr. Lehmier (even the patch is going to have something special to mark this dedication).  Mr. Lehmier was very involved with the Catholic Committee on Scouting in Harrisburg and it would serve him well to show a GREAT TROOP 142 turnout for this event and let everyone know how much he meant to all of us.

It is being run by the Catholic Committee on Scouting, but is open to ALL denominations.  We will be sleeping in the Adirondack Shelters and eating in the dining hall for all meals.

Scouts that had received their Religious medals this past year should come to the event and be recognized (all faiths will be recognized).  If you can not make the whole weekend, if at all possible try to make it for the activities on Saturday.  We will be rededicating/blessing the USS Lehmier Canoe that evening. Sign up on the Troop's Web Site by 8/31/14.  I would like to see a HUGE TURN OUT FOR THIS!!!!

This week we have a PLC Meeting for the SPL, ASPLs, PLs, Scribe, Chaplain Aide, Quartermasters and ASMs.

Don't Forget...

Dosie Dough's fundraiser coffee blend for Peter Harris' Eagle Scout project continues until this Thursday the 28th!

Also, Peter needs 6 scouts and 1 or 2 adults to help with his his project (raised flower/gardem beds).

Date & Time:             Saturday September 6th at 8:30am

Location:                   788 Scott Lane, Lititz, PA

If you can help Peter,  please respond to him via email to: harrisp261@gmail.com

Have a GREAT WEEK!!!  I will see you soon.

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. Maney

CONGRATULATIONS TROOP 142!!!

Posted on Aug 5 2014 - 2:14am

Congratulations Troop 142 for attaining the Troop Award of Excellence following your week of summer camp at Bashore Scout Reservation.

To receive this award, all 7 patrols from the troop had to earn the Baden Powell Patrol Award (multiple tasks that each patrol had to complete) - try keeping 46 boys focused for a week!

A special "WELL DONE" to Senior Patrol Leader Colin Heckman, his assistants and the 7 Patrol Leaders for all their hard work to achieve the awards!

This continues our summer camp tradition of attaining these awards dating back to the 1990's!

Also, many thanks to Scoutmaster Maney and his assistants for giving their time this past week on behalf of the scouts!

Great job scouts and leaders!
