From Scoutmaster Maney's Backpack (11/17/14)

Good morning ALL,

I would like to thank those who helped with Scouting For Food this year.  We had many Scouts, Parents, Brothers, Sisters, Relatives and Friends help this year.  With the help of Pack 142 and the Girl Scouts we collected over 7,200 pounds of food (I have not heard how the whole Lititz/Warwick collected, I will pass that along when I find out).  Thank you to ASM Mr. Armstrong and JASM Nick Armstrong for heading this up for us this year.  I can't believe how smooth everything went.  WAY TO GO!!!!

I wanted to pass along something that was found that day.  On one of the bags that was brought back there was a note attached.  It said "Thank you for all you do".  This just sums up the sentiment that I know more have about this program and what you Scouts and Parents do.  THANK YOU!!!!!

Also a big Thank You to those who helped with the Bazaar Set Up.  Without our Troop's help the Church would not be ready for this Huge Event.

This week we are not able to meet at St. James Church for our Troop Meeting (The Bazaar is taking over the whole Church).  ASM Mr. Blevins has set up for our Troop to take a tour of Tait Towers.  We will meet in their parking lot (401 West Lincoln Avenue in Lititz)at 6:15 PM.  There is a red metal sculpture in front of the building where we will be entering (this is where we will meet).  Our tour starts at 6:30 PM SHARP (if you are late you will miss out).  Wear your Class A Uniform.  Do NOT bring your Scout Handbook.

Here are some rules we must follow:

- All shoes must be closed toed

- No photography allowed

- Visitors must stay within yellow lines

- Adults over 18 must fill out a nondisclosure (ATTACHED)

- The tours will last up to one hour

- Tour guides will return scouts to the kitchen

- Due to moving machinery, scouts must be on their best behavior

Other things going on in our Troop:

- New Scout Account Fundraising Opportunity - as announced last week via Eblast and direct emails, there is a special fundraising opportunity for the scouts where they can earn a 50% profit on each item sold.  Sign on to the website and read all about it following this posting.

- If you are planning on advancing in rank at the December 11th Court of Honor, you need to email me your intentions and what rank you are advancing to by Monday 11/24/14.  I need to schedule Scoutmaster Conferences for before the 12/4/14 Troop Meeting and we will have Boards of Review that night.

- Gettysburg Campout is this coming weekend.  Meet at the Church at 5 PM (have eaten already), wear your Class A Uniform and bring your Payment and Permission Slip, if you have not already.

- Hershey Bears Hockey Game.  If you are planning on attending, you MUST sign up on the Troop Web Site by 11/220/14 .  This is a fun night for the whole family.  They even have a Turkey Shoot after the game (you can go down on the ice and try your hand at shooting a hockey puck across the ice and maybe win some prizes.

- We need more help for the Christmas Bazaar Clean Up (many are going on the Gettysburg Trip and will not be back in time to help, so if you are not going, try to help us out.  Sign up on the Troop Web Site.
